8:15 AM - 8:30 AM Welcome from Amy Sabato
8:30 AM - 8:55 Legal Update and Q&A with Deb Najjar

                 9:00 - 10:30 Program

TOPIC: "Workplace Investigations in 2022: What HR Professionals Need to Know"

Employers understand the need to investigate workplace complaints. Legal obligations arise when the issue concerns discrimination, unlawful harassment, or retaliation, making those complaints top priority. Working in a remote or hybrid world complicates things, but it does not abrogate the duty to promptly, thoroughly, and impartially look into concerns. Issues covered in this program include what an investigation really means, the key steps in conducting a reasonable investigation, interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, communications with stakeholders, and special considerations in the virtual world.

    TOPIC: "Facilitating the Multi-Generational Workplace"

Because this is the first time in American history where there have been as many as four and five generations in the workplace, a new kind of tension has emerged.  It's not uncommon for groups to stereotype and judge one another, which naturally has a negative effect.  Trying to change someone else's perspective, approach, and/or style may feel like a losing battle.  It is more effective to capitalize on each other's strengths and assets.  Masterful communicators can connect with people from various generations by adapting, collaborating, and negotiating common ground.

    Objectives:  Participants will leave with

    • An appreciation for the new multi-generational workforce
    • An understanding of the perceptions that each has of “the others”
    • Suggestions for facilitating tension, conflict, and misunderstanding
    • A model for creating an appreciative culture that utilizes each other’s strengths and evaluates (together) what works and what needs attention.

    Our Speaker:  Gerri King, Ph.D

Gerri King, Ph.D., social psychologist and organizational consultant, works with educational, healthcare, corporate, industrial, non-profit, and governmental clients throughout the US and abroad.  Gerri is also a facilitator and keynote speaker, presenting at numerous conferences and seminars throughout the year.

Dr. King’s expertise includes a wide range of topics such as supervisory skills, team building, resolving conflicts and effective communication, creating blame-free and gossip-free work environments, motivating employees, the dynamics and management of change, strategic planning, why people avoid success, and the changing role of leadership in the 21st century.
