TOPIC: "Optimism: The Overlooked Superpower"

Please join April Tuck and John Maitland for a look at optimism. While it may seem like being pessimistic is an accepted attitude, research is revealing that employees are craving a more optimistic culture. Effective HR plays a significant role in shaping and can help infuse a healthy dose of optimism into organizational culture. Together, we’ll take a look at what optimism is, why it is so critical to our survival, and how HR can cultivate optimism across our organizations.

Our Speakers:  April Tuck and John Maitland

April Tuck is an accomplished HR consultant with a diverse background in operations, human resources, healthcare, and labor relations, equipping her with the expertise to guide organizational success. April excels in driving organizational growth by aligning HR practices with broader business objectives, fostering a positive and engaged work culture, and ensuring operational efficiency across the organization. Her multifaceted approach makes her a valuable asset in transforming businesses and promoting their long-term success.

John Maitland helps clients manage their daily labor relations activities in ways that are consistent with their organizations’ overall labor philosophies. He knows the practical and legal considerations of both non-union and unionized workforces, and he helps employers identify and implement effective solutions to difficult challenges such as responding to allegations of harassment, developing a plan for employees who are unable to return to work, addressing complicated performance issues, or providing proper interpretations of the collective-bargaining agreement.

John also regularly negotiates collective bargaining agreements for numerous regional health care clients, higher education clients, and other entities by collaborating with senior management and negotiation teams to develop effective strategies for negotiations. When the need arises, John provides effective and zealous representation in arbitrations and in front of the National Labor Relations Board.
