Greater Merrimack Valley Human Resource Association

Who we are...

Your local 100% SHRM chapter

The Greater Merrimack Valley Human Resources Association (GMVHRA) has its roots in the early 1990s, as The Human Resources Network of the Greater Salem (NH) Chamber of Commerce.  In 2002, under the leadership of Dan Griffiths, the organization affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and adopted the name Greater Merrimack Valley Human Resources Association (GMVHRA).

Today, GMVHRA is comprised of professionals employed in various human resource-related functions in over 100 private sector, public sector and non-profit organizations and is the leading and largest 100% SHRM chapter in MA and NH. GMVHRA provides its members many benefits such as:

  • Opportunities for networking with other HR professionals to discuss issues of mutual importance
  • Re-certification credits, including opportunities to obtain up to 17.5 HRCI re-certification credits per year. This amounts to 42 of a certified professional’s required 60 credits every 3 years
  • Workshops on key HR topics, continuing education and ongoing professional development

As a non-profit association, GMVHRA is staffed by an all-volunteer board and other dedicated volunteer members who are committed to helping human resource professionals lead, advance and influence the management of human resources and its impact on organizational success. Our committees include Membership, Meeting Operations and Workforce Readiness.

Our Workforce Readiness Committee provides top-rated programs to the local community and is consistently invited back to local high schools to facilitate workshops on resume preparation and interview skills to students and underserved adults.
